This company maintains and operates a large number of railway simulators deployed across the United States. They manage both a large parts inventory at their central warehouse as well as a full fleet of contractors who perform service orders and refreshes on the simulators themselves.

Currently the client is experiencing issues with warehouse organization and staying on top of maintenance, repairs, and refreshes for their railway simulators. The majority of the parts inventory is being tracked by pen and paper, or worse, by memory. The client is looking for a way to improve tracking and ensure they are able to replace parts on their equipment at regular intervals with ease.
Railway Simulators Tracking Solution:
We recommended a combination of Wasp Inventory Control and Wasp Mobile Asset to address the two major issues the client was facing. Utilizing the real time updates, barcoded inventory and barcoded locations, as well as email alerts for inventory minimum stock levels, we found that Wasp Inventory Control would do an excellent job of helping eliminate time wasted by employees wandering around the warehouse looking for inventory, as well as increase the client’s ability to forecast inventory needs. On the other hand Wasp Mobile Asset will allow them to set up recurring maintenance schedules on each unique railway simulator, enabling them to see not only what work has been done on the devices but also what upcoming tasks will need to be addressed. The maintenance feature also allows the user to assign work to a specific employee, with email notifications of upcoming or past due maintenance on a per asset basis.

Utilizing the Wasp solutions to better control parts inventory, time management, and asset maintenance for big ticket items will allow the client to realize true ROI in as little as three months. Both software systems operate on the same hardware platforms as well, allowing the client to benefit from the dynamic range of features without having to double their investment on scanners and printers.
